The first round of the 2012 Formula Drift season had shown that last season’s form was no fluke when Justin Pawlak powered to the top of the podium. How would he do in Round 2, at a track that has historically not favored those who did well in Long Beach. Would no. 1 qualifier Mike Essa step up to the challenge, or would Daijiro Yoshihara go for the three-peat after coming through victorious in 2010 and 2011? Read on to find out.
Although 2012 marked was Formula Drift’s 9th consecutive year coming to Road Atlanta, a new course flow and tons of new cars on the grid meant all bets were off when practice got underway on Friday. Its hard to think about whats going on in the world around you when you’re sliding in the car you’ve built in your garage. The car that took blood, sweat and several girlfriends…
Just so you know this will not be a formal write up on FD Round 2 2011 in Atlanta, Ga. The reason is because well, everyone already knows what happened in Atlanta. The Road to the Championship is what they call it and oh how it is a perfect name for this event. Atlanta brings the most energetic crowd, drivers and even media….
First of all let me introduce Dirty South Drift, or as we call it DSD. Atlanta is kinda slack on the drift series events right now, so when I came up with the idea to start one up I didn’t have any issues getting support.
I was just going through some of my shots from the 2010 season and came across some more shots I liked from the 2010 Formula Drift Series in Atlanta Georgia. It was one of my first events posted up on Drifted and was one of the most fun times I have ever had at a drift event.
We’re back at Cordele Ga, Watermelon Capital Speedway, but this time with the guys from Prime Auto. Waking up that morning only to find a gray haze coming through my window, I knew that it was going to be an interesting day and as I stepped out my front door only to find that the rain that the weatherman said wouldn’t come…
Despite being in the middle of nowhere and about 3 hours out of my comfort zone, the day started off really well. The guys from Lethal Injection can pretty much tear it up anywhere. What surprised me about this group was that just about every time I saw the same car out on track, a different driver was in it. It made it for a very varied and interesting day…
Nashville Super Speedway, Nashville Tennessee. What a great track, for only about a five hour drive from me in Atlanta Georgia. NSS is a Nascar type track that will pit drivers at around 100+ mph entries into the first turn.
Yet another Sunday practice day has come. I always wake up in such a good mood when I know these days are here. As you can see, these guys dont play. They may be practicing but they bring “it”.
To start things off, I haven’t posted in a while and I’ve actually missed it quite a lot, so I’m really glad to have a couple things lined up to shoot and to post. We recently received news that sadly, all the local Atlanta drift events [View]
Showing up to this practice session was looking like it would turn out to be a dull day. Only 30 cars showing up to drive and out of those 30, only about 8 were SED Pro Am drivers. As you can tell, I was so [View]
Gresham Motorsports Park, Jefferson Ga. South East Drift Pro Am series- Fuera De Control; 16 Drivers, only one winner.
Waking up on Sunday morning at 7:00am to the sound of my alarm clock definitely didn’t put me in the mood to get up, but then I remembered that soon I would get to smell burning rubber. That would put a smile on my face.
At 8pm on Friday, May 7th, the battle between the top Formula Drift Pro Am guys from Atlanta and the south east began. It was intense, heart pounding, edge of your seat drift action.
