Waking up on Sunday morning at 7:00am to the sound of my alarm clock definitely didn’t put me in the mood to get up, but then I remembered that soon I would get to smell burning rubber. That would put a smile on my face. (more…)

We’ve shown you the battle ground that is Wall Speedway. We’ve told you how the bracket stacked up after qualifying. Now it’s time to lay it all on the line as the final drivers went head to head for the podium at Round 3 of the 2010 Formula Drift championship. Coming into the event, Vaughn Gittin Jr. was leading the overall points standings by 37 over Dai Yoshihara. New Jersey is Gittin’s home turf, so he was a logical favorite for the crowd. Yoshihara has won at this oval in the past however, standing atop the podium in 2007 when he drove the Rockstar S15. Now that Yoshihara is back in a Nissan chassis, it was anybody’s race to win. Read on to see who would emerge victorious.

A’PEXi and Hankook tires rolled out Ryuji Miki’s brand new drift machine at Wall Speedway earlier this month for Round 3 of the 2010 Formula Drift championship. After competing for three seasons in a classic Mazda RX-7 FD3S, (check out my recap for more) it was time for a change. And what a change it is: say hello to his new Lexus SC430. I caught up with the driver and crew to discuss the build, and get their reaction to running it on the small oval course. Hit the jump to find out what I learned.

In South Africa, teams from around the globe are currently competing for their slot in the final bracket. Earlier this month at Wall Speedway in New Jersey, the competition was also heating up as Formula Drift‘s professional drivers – hailing from many nations in domestic and import race cars – set out to qualify for Saturday’s main event. They had only two chances to impress the judges with a perfect run, each of which was scored from 0 to 100. No matter how good their practice had been, it was time to put up or shut up. Could Darren McNamara, the 2009 event winner, further his chances of a repeat by taking the top spot? Click past the break to see how it all went down.
