Motor car racing has been a part of history probably ever since the first automobile was invented in the late 19th Century. It is basically human nature to pitch to competition and come out on top. What began as survival of the fittest in the animal kingdom led for our primal behaviour to be that of beating someone else in the same game. With the rise of motor cars, it was but natural for the concept of car racing to come about.

By the first decade of the 20th century, typically races, apart from horse racing, were carried out in car prototypes that were to be launched in the following year. The first race-track was built exclusively for racing during this period called the speedway and the first grand prix was held in France in 1906. In 1955, a championship was instituted for Formula 1 car manufacturers.

Formula E: How Exciting Is It?

Formula E is a modernistic avatar of auto racing and is a relatively new concept developed only in 2011. It is very novel and environment friendly because Formula E only involves electric-powered cars thereby reducing carbon emissions. However, many purists and classical motor racing audience find it difficult to appreciate the difference in Formula E racing over its predecessors. This is majorly due to the relatively low speeds than they are used to and absence of an extra note. It’s among the more popular betting choices on Betway too.

Electric cars are also comparatively noiseless to the fuel powered vehicles. In the initial days of E-car races that began with the first championship in 2014, there was a major hiccup when the batteries did not last the entire race & drivers had to make a pit stop to swap cars in order to finish the race. This did not go down well with fans of the sport.

Scientific research and advancements have led to the development of batteries that would last the cars through the race and today most drivers in Formula E races finish with the car they started out with. There is also ongoing engineering advances made towards increasing speeds of electric powered cars to help the modern sport garner more support from the die-hard motor racing supporters. This has been continuously noticed in the recent Formula E events.

Despite all minor changes and inconveniences, the world is moving forward with sustainability measures and the heads in this motorsport believe that Formula E is the future of car-racing. With most countries around the world pledging to stop the use of fuel powered vehicles in the next couple of decades, it is only a matter of time before the current classical styles of racing such as the F1 die a suffocating death. In future while natural resources are further depleted, Electric car racing may be the only way to keep the global favourite sport of auto racing alive and running.
