How to replace a windshield in easy steps?

Here is the list of steps with the help of which you can easily replace your car’s windshield on your own.

  • The first step to do when you are trying to replace a windshield is to remove your previous windshield. For doing so, you would have first to remove the plastic molding from your car’s windshield. There’s a precaution while doing so, and that is trying to remove this plastic with the help of a strong clip and make sure that the clip does not hit your windshield as it can also break down.
  • The second step after you have removed the plastic molding is to separate your car’s windshield from the metal area that is around the windshield. For doing so, you would have to cut the windshield, and it can be done with the help of a razor or knife.
  • After you have cut the windshield to make it get separated from the metal area around it. Then the next step is to cut the adhesive with which your previous windshield was sticking. You can cut the adhesive with the help of a sharp knife easily.
  • After successful cutting of adhesive from all the four sides, the next step is to remove the windshield. If you are alone, then I will not prefer you to remove it as the windshield is massive, and removing it all alone can hurt you. So try to ask for help from someone while removing the windshield.
  • Clean the metal area properly with the help of a brush, cut all the extra adhesive on the metal area. After all, this is done, rub it with the help of sandpaper thoroughly.
  • The next step is to apply the urethane primer around the sides of your windshield area. This will help the adhesive to sit correctly.
  • The next step is to apply the adhesive with a hot machine gun and immediately after that, install the windshield. But make sure the alignment of the windscreen is correct.
  • After that, leave your car’s windshield for at least 24 hours.
  • After 24 hours, add the windshield gasket that you can get quickly from the market. Moreover, the installation is also easy.

These were all steps with the help of which you can easily replace your car’s windshield on your own. Although there are some precautions, but if you did the replacing work without any hurry, then you would be able to do it successfully.
