Conor Shanahan Revisits Mondello Final Drama While Brother Jack Slams ‘Confusing’ Drift Masters Judging Decisions
The Shanahan brothers just released their latest video recapping their controversial Drift Masters weekend on home soil at Mondello Park for Round 4 of the 2025 season.
As most drifters will likely be familiar with, the weekend started with typical pre-event chaos. Jack’s clutch decided to fail the night before they loaded the trailer – the same clutch that had worked perfectly all week (of course!).
Meanwhile, Conor was carrying the weight of championship leadership on his shoulders.

The practice sessions soon turned into a typical Irish weekend when the weather gods flipped the switch mid-session, turning the track from bone dry to absolutely soaked in minutes.
Jack was having what he called “probably one of the best chase runs I’ve done around Mondello” (and he’s not short of them) when disaster struck during his lead run.

His hood flew up, smashing the windshield. He kept driving since he could (just about) see enough to complete the lap, but it meant going into qualifying with (very) compromised visibility!

Qualifying day brought mixed results. Jack struggled with a zero on his first run after getting into the wrong gear and over-rotating on initiation. He managed to salvage an 86.5 on his second attempt to squeeze into the main show.

Conor delivered when it mattered with a 97-point run, before going on to win the qualifying showdown.
Battle day started promisingly with Jack advancing through top 32 in a wild scrap. But it was his top 16 battle against Pawel Korpulinski where things got a little controversial as his weekend came to an early end.

The judging call left Jack frustrated. Visibly bemused by the situation, he points out that Korpulinski made a mistake that killed his proximity, but the judges blamed Jack for the contact, saying he “should have been able to avoid it.”
What wound him up further was what he felt were inconsistent calls from the judges. In the very next battle, they blamed the lead car for making a mistake that affected the chase car’s proximity. “I really don’t understand what’s going on this season,” Jack said. Other drivers came up to him agreeing the decision was questionable.

Meanwhile, Conor kept pushing through the brackets, but you could clearly see the championship pressure weighing on him. He made it all the way to the final against Piotr Wiecek in an epic battle full of contact, smoke, and wheel-to-wheel action that resulted in a one-more-time showdown.

In the end, after a dramatic ending, Piotr Więcek took the win on Irish soil. If you (somehow) missed what went down in the battle, you’ll want to check out our article where we take an in-depth look at the freak accident.
Following the outcome Conor (jokingly) admitted “I’m annoyed that a Polish guy won at my home track”. Jokes or not, he was clearly frustrated, where everyone was expecting to see the Irish to take the victory.
Regardless, another fantastic performance means that Conor now has a 60-point lead over Piotr Więcek at the top of the championship standings with three rounds left to go in the 2025 season. Following his frustrating start, Jack finds himself in 8th place, but just 31 points behind third, so his hopes of redemption are far from over.
