Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test summary

This satisfying crash test dummy game encourages you to do the exact opposite of what you’d normally do in driving games. Instead of avoiding obstacles, you’re rewarded for causing maximum damage and smashing into as much as you can!

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 16
Screenshot – Causing chaos on one of the football-based bonus levels, with huge potential earnings on offer.

You’ll launch the dummy off a gigantic ski jump-style ramp before ejecting it mid-air while it’s spinning around like a ragdoll, then (potentially) crashing head-first into the quiet town below to terrify the locals.

The goal is simple. You need to combine destruction, distance, and damage to earn massive payouts for upgrades and new rides.

Screenshot – D’oh, his arm is still intact! You’ll hit the jackpot when you lose every body part.

The more carnage you cause while smashing into the buildings, trees, poles, and fences, the more body panels your dummy loses, until you’re left with nothing but a battered skeleton.

If you hoped to show off your cornering skills here, you’ll have a better time in our Racing Games or Car Game collections instead. You don’t even need to worry about steering in this one!

It’s the perfect simple, stress-relief clicker game. Just tap as fast as you can to build speed, time your eject to perfection, use the flip button to maximize the potential, and then watch the madness unfold.

Screenshot – Comin’ in hot. Launching the car into the unsuspecting town below (don’t worry – the locals aren’t home!)

Each crash earns you coins to unlock (much) faster vehicles and upgrades, which means more distance and even bigger crashes. The quick-fire, endless replay value soon lands you in a bonus level, throwing you into a football stadium packed with campervans with huge earning potential to unlock fresh vehicles for your garage.

If you’ve enjoyed the simple, fun vibe that Downhill Car Ride offers, Eggy Car provides a similar experience, but the challenge is to perfectly balance an egg without smashing it.

For the drifting fans out there that want a quick-hit alternative that still tests your skill, Drift Boss is a winner for some quick and easy sideways action.

Getting started

When you open the game, you’ll immediately see “Tap to play”. Once you do that, you’re told to “Tap fast!”

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 19
Screenshot – Left-click as fast as you can to hit the MAX speed on the gauge.

At this point, you need to rapidly click or tap as fast as you can to build up the speed bar as high as you can before you launch off the ramp.

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 20
Screenshot – Then, once you’ve launched off the ramp, hit “Eject” to go flying through the air. Keep an eye on when it recommends you do so, as you’ll want to remember the optimal timing.

Time it perfectly so you hit the eject button (which appears in the bottom right) at the peak of the jump to release your hands from the scooter. Don’t panic if the perfect timing doesn’t make sense just yet – you’ll soon figure out what helps you get the furthest. Once you let go of the handlebars, you’re airborne.

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 21
Screenshot – Then, the same applies for flipping, but you can vary this depending on your intentions (whether you’re aiming for distance or destruction!)

While you’re in mid-flight, click the flip button (which replaces eject once you’ve clicked it) to fling the crash test dummy even further.

Try to cause as much destruction as possible while also traveling as far as you can. Impacts cause maximum dummy damage, collisions destroy objects, and distance earns the biggest payout. Combine all three for maximum coin earnings at the end-of-level reward screen.

Admittedly, at this point, you’re probably a little disappointed by the speed and distance of the scooter, even if you fill the bar to max. That’s totally understandable, but the good news is you’re going to have a selection of upgrades and new vehicles to unlock that’ll completely transform the game.

Screenshot – The game’s (rather simple) main menu buttons explained.

Once you’ve completed the first run and collected your initial earnings, you’ll get your first look at the main menu. Take a moment to look at the in-game buttons.

  • The top left settings cog wheel lets you change language and volume
  • High score (middle) shows your furthest jump so far
  • The top right has a reset button along with your current coin balance
  • Middle-right is the shop, where you can check out the other vehicles waiting to be unlocked in the showroom (we’ll dive into those in the Vehicle list shortly)
  • The middle bottom shows the three upgrade levels – ‘Gas’, ‘Eject’, and ‘Coins’, all of which we’ll explore in more detail in Upgrades below.

Don’t worry if you feel like you’re not earning money quickly enough at the start, as the income momentum builds up super quickly. You’ll soon unlock the bonus level where you’ll get a huge payout, and once you’ve upgraded your ride, the money starts rolling in thick and fast.

Levels and arenas

Screenshot – Once you’ve upgraded your ride, you’ll soon have full control of where you’re crashing.

Main town

This is where you’ll carry out your runs and polish your skills. You’ll hit the ramp as fast as you can, before crashing into the town filled with destructible objects. Hit the trees, poles, fences, barrels, telegraph poles, and buildings for maximum impact.

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 24
Screenshot – Just a few feet from the finish line. But, don’t aim to go too far beyond this if destruction is your goal, as there’s nothing left to hit after the large Stonehenge-style stones.

It’s the same each time, so you’ll soon get familiar with things you want to aim for. Once you’ve upgraded to a fresh whip and unlocked the upgrades, you’ll quickly have the finish line in sight.

Screenshot – Not only are the bonus levels great fun, but they offer the ultimate rewards, too.

Bonus level

This is where the real money is. The bonus level lets you head to a football stadium complete with goal posts and campervans to crash into.

You can earn massive rewards here on a single run, with up to 23,600 coins on offer if you nail the timing and destruction. You can then use these earnings toward new vehicles and upgrades, and you’ll notice the difference immediately when you head back to the main town.

There’s no online mode in Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test. If you want to have fun with your friends in free public lobbies, make sure you check out our Multiplayer Games.

Madalin Stunt Cars 3 is the most popular option for those of you looking for big maps, a huge unlocked car selection from the start, and silly stunts with zero grinding.

Vehicles to unlock

Downhill Car Ride currently has five vehicles in the showroom, with more to come soon. The difference between them is huge, and they’re well worth upgrading as soon as you can.

  • Scooter – Free (starter vehicle)
  • Kids’ bicycle (with a teddy on the front!) – 2,500 coins
  • Motorcycle – 7,500 coins
  • Car – 15,000 coins
  • Buggy – 25,000 coins
Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 27
Screenshot – The buggy is hilariously fast, especially with upgrades, and well worth buying as soon as you can.

Once unlocked, you won’t believe how rapid the Buggy is. Once upgraded, you’ll need to time your flip and eject to perfection, or you’ll go flying past the finish line!

While there’s a decent selection of cars to choose from, which is fine for a quick crash-based game, if you’d rather build a garage of real-world rides and upgradeable drift cars, you’ll want to check out what Drift Hunters has to offer.

Upgrades and customization

There are three upgrade categories available, and the best part is that you get to keep your upgrades when purchasing new vehicles. However, be careful, as they do get increasingly expensive as you progress, and you can easily splash out more cash than you realized.

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 28
Screenshot – The game’s three upgrade options.

Gas (Acceleration) – Boosts your speed so you can gain maximum momentum before being launched off the ramp.

Eject (Ejection Force) – This increases the force you’re ejected at, sending your dummy flying even further.

Coins (Bonus Earnings) – Think of this as a combo multiplier that’ll make your payouts substantially bigger.

These upgrades offer simple improvement boosts that make a big difference. However, if you’re more interested in exploring in-depth customization and tuning, you won’t believe how many options and tweaks there are in Drift Hunters MAX.

Alongside the huge selection of performance upgrades, you can even tweak advanced alignment settings to build the ultimate drift weapon. That’s before we even get started talking about the insanely realistic physics!

Advanced tips & tricks

Upgrade your speed first

Put your early coins into the Gas upgrade. The faster you accelerate, the farther you’ll launch off the ramp. Remember, your upgrades will be automatically applied to your future vehicle purchases, so this is worth doing even with the scooter. If your first bonus level goes to plan, you’ll easily unlock enough cash for a vehicle upgrade.

Once you’ve got a better vehicle, you can then focus on the Eject and Coins upgrades once you’ve reached a decent speed.

Master the timing windows

Always try to hit max speed before the ramp (it’s easier than you think), and then eject when you start to scrub off speed in mid-air and head back toward earth.

Practice flipping soon after ejecting to find the optimal distance extension. If you’re not going to travel as far as you hoped, consider whether you’re better off crashing into as many things as possible to ensure you earn the extra destruction points instead.

Make the most of the bonus levels

Each bonus level offers significant earning potential that can be a game-changer. Aim for the campervans and try to hit the goal posts; you can easily walk away with over 20,000 coins in one run.

Don’t underestimate the better vehicles

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 30
Screenshot – Decimating the crash test dummy and the buggy with a hard landing, as the wheels go flying in different directions.

They’re easy to purchase once you’ve done a few runs (especially if you’re gifted with a bonus level), and will massively increase your earnings. The difference between the distance you can cover in the Scooter and the Buggy, for example, is like night and day.

Aim for maximum destruction

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test - Image 31
Screenshot – Once upgraded with a faster vehicle, you’ll soon be able to earn more than 10,000 coins on each run, with over 20,000 on offer with the bonus levels.

If distance isn’t your primary goal, and you fancy some stress relief, target the dense areas with plenty of objects to hit.

The bigger the better here! Try to crash into the massive objects and buildings rather than the small accessories scattered around. A direct hit on a building will rack up way more coins than clipping a few poles.

If you find yourself playing this purely to see how badly you can wreck things, we highly recommend checking out Beam Drive Car Crash Test Simulator and Car Crash Test Abandoned City next, providing some of the best damage physics you’ll ever see in a browser game.

While they won’t be giving BeamNG.drive a run for its money, it’s super satisfying to see your panels bend and crumple, and your ride will eventually become totally undriveable.

Not tempted by those? Don’t worry, we’ve got a huge selection of stunt and crash games for you to explore.

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test FAQ

What’s the main objective?

Crash the dummy into things as hard as possible, while traveling as far as you can and setting new distance records for your friends to beat. You’ll need to maximize damage, destruction, and distance to earn the biggest coin payouts.

How do I go faster?

Rapid click during the acceleration phase, and invest in Gas upgrades if your ride isn’t cutting it. The more you upgrade the ‘Speed’, the faster you’ll launch off the ramp.

How do I eject from the vehicle?

Tap or click the eject button (bottom right button) when you’re near the peak of your jump. Timing is everything. If you do it too early, you’ll lose momentum. If you do it too late, you’ll already be heading downward.

How do I earn coins fast?

Focus on combining damage, distance, and destruction. Aim for areas with lots of props and buildings. However, you also get big payouts simply for traveling far, so don’t get too caught up trying to get everything perfect.

Will I lose my upgrades if I purchase a new vehicle?

No. Your Gas, Eject, and Coins upgrades carry over to every new vehicle you unlock from the showroom, so you don’t need to worry about starting from scratch each time.

What upgrades matter most early on?

Gas (speed) is the best bet. You need speed to launch as far as possible, and distance is the easiest way to earn coins early on.

Is it mobile-friendly?

Yes. It’s optimized for all mobile devices (including tablets) and plays smoothly in mobile browsers on iOS and Android. We recommend using Google Chrome for the best experience.

Is there a multiplayer mode?

Downhill Car Ride: Crash Test is single-player only. However, you can compete against your friends by showing them your furthest distance traveled or screenshotting your maximum damage scores.
