GTA 6 Map ‘Leak’ From Gamescom Booth Goes Viral – But Is It Legit?
I’m willing to bet you’ve seen endless ‘new’ leaks and details for Grand Theft Auto 6 popping up on your social media feeds, especially in recent months.
Given that it’s the most anticipated title in gaming history, with fans waiting 12 years (and counting) since the launch of GTA V, it’s hardly surprising.
But the clickbait is reaching an all-time high, and AI’s ever-growing improvements are adding fuel to the fire. At this point, it’s becoming increasingly challenging to figure out what’s actually true, and you need your wits about you more than ever.
This is the latest ‘leaked’ GTA 6 map circulating online, along with the caption ‘Someone managed to take a photo of the GTA 6 map that was displayed at Rockstar’s booth during Gamescom’. It currently has nearly 8k likes on the Facebook post.

If you look closely at the image, you can see exactly what they mean by the ‘Social Medai’, and it should provide you with an immediate answer as to whether it’s real right away. In case you’re still unsure – it’s not legit!
Thankfully, a glance at the comments section agrees. “There’s a bit of a map in your AI, sir”, states the ‘Most relevant‘ of them all – good job, Facebook algorithms!
The next most relevant comment follows up with, “What’s a Social Medai 😂😂😂 There’s also absolutely no way they will have schools in a GTA game…”

AI-generated images are often exposed in their details. We’ve all seen the extra fingers, distorted faces, and warped text, as clearly shown in this example (along with the spelling mistake!) These telltale glitches have become the most common (and most mocked) signs of AI fakery online.
Ironically, you can also use AI to your advantage by exposing these things.
I uploaded the image and asked ChatGPT, “Look at this image of a supposed leak, are there any issues that would make you question whether it’s real?”
The response?
“Yes — the image you sent has several red flags that make it pretty clear it’s not a genuine GTA 6 map from Rockstar”
It goes on to mention the following relevant points:
- UI / Font Quality – The text and icons look blurry and mismatched, almost like an AI render.
- Rockstar’s UIs are usually razor-sharp and highly polished — this looks inconsistent.
- Labels like “Social Media” and “Schools” stand out as strange. Rockstar has never put “Social Media” on a map. Schools also feel like a concerning choice given the franchise tone.
So, there’s the obvious spelling issue (ChatGPT let it off on this one!) along with the other issues pointed out in the comments section. Add in the bizarre claim of ‘Schools’ being part of the game, and it’s easy to dismiss this one outright.

Rockstar is known for perfection, and the chances of them ‘accidentally’ including these glaringly obvious issues are very slim.
Until Rockstar drops more trailers, keep your wits about you. Most ‘leaks’ are nothing more than AI clickbait hunting for likes.
GTA 6 is set for release on May 26, 2026, and so far, we’ve had just two trailers from Rockstar, with ‘Trailer 2’ being the most recent.
Until then, we’ll keep you updated when any (real) news or (legit) rumors surface!
