Nissan Concerns Grow After NISMO Festival Gets Axed For 2025

The NISMO Festival, a celebration of all things Nissan, typically held annually at Fuji Speedway in December, has been suddenly canceled for 2025.

What should have been the event’s 26th year won’t happen after Nissan made the sudden decision to pull the plug.
The official statement is vague, stating, “The decision follows a reevaluation of the festival’s content and operations.”
Thankfully, they also throw in some optimism, claiming they’ll “reassess the future direction of the NISMO Festival, with the aim of relaunching it as an even more engaging experience for fans.”
But there are still (understandable) concerns that this could mark the end of the festival.
The likely reason(s) behind the cancellation

While Nissan is framing the announcement as a positive refresh, which is plausible following last year’s huge NISMO 40th anniversary celebrations, it’s hard not to connect the dots with their ongoing financial troubles.
Nissan recently posted its first quarterly operating loss in over four years, alongside a recall of nearly half a million cars. At the same time, they’ve also been shutting down factories and design studios while cancelling future projects.
Adding in the supposed multi-billion-dollar merger with Honda falling through, and it’s clear things aren’t looking optimal for the JDM legends right now.
What we’ll be missing out on

NISMO Festival has been one of the most anticipated events on Japan’s automotive calendar, bringing together iconic race cars, road cars, and enthusiasts for motorsport worship at Fuji Speedway.
If you fancy an insight into what the NISMO Festival has to offer, who better to give you a guided tour into what makes it so special than drifting YouTuber Adam LZ?
Nissan has one of the most prestigious histories in both drifting and motorsport. We genuinely hope these are temporary cost-saving measures while they lay the foundations for a brighter future for the company and the NISMO Festival.
