Road Of Fury 4: Assault On The Green Rocks is a side-scrolling car combat shooter where you’ll fight for survival alongside your pet dog as you battle waves of ‘Unholy Raiders’ across 30 increasingly tough levels.

As you progress, you’ll pick up allies to form a convoy, unlock and upgrade a lineup of vehicles, and improve your weapons and super-powers so you can keep pace with the rising chaos.

You don’t need to worry about driving in this game. Your vehicles have auto-drive and auto-fire abilities, and you just need to focus on aiming at the swarms of raiders and airborne threats. It sounds easy, but you’ll soon realize it’s far from it as the levels progress.

You’ll need to learn to juggle your next target priority between the ground and the air as drones, rockets, armored vehicles, bikes, kamikaze gliders with jetpacks, and missiles come at you from every direction. Shoot the seemingly never-ending Raiders as they close in by blowing them up or firing them out of the sky before they can take you down.

You’ll unlock new upgrades and weaponry as you advance to help you stand a chance against the ever-growing onslaught. Keep the health bars of your vehicles as high as you can as the level progress meter climbs, and try to survive all 30 challenges and beat all 3 bosses.

Be prepared – this one gets increasingly chaotic and intense!

How to play Road Of Fury 4

Initial setup

After meeting your Nomad character and his dog, you’re thrown straight into the action, equipped with a simple machine gun. Your immediate job is to aim the crosshair at your enemies trying to blow up your vehicle while also moving your target onto power-ups to earn rewards and boosts.

Basically – just shoot everything, while trying not to get shot (too much!) Given that the road is bumpy, you’ll want to be careful with your aim to ensure the bullets are hitting where they’ll have the most impact. Aim for the vehicles rather than the Raiders on them, as once the vehicles explode, they won’t stand a chance.

The opening level finishes with a surprise airstrike, which gives you your first introduction to the super-weapons in the game. You’ll then receive your first rewards to upgrade your vehicle and better equip it for the onslaught ahead.

Getting started

Since you didn’t get to explore the in-game menus before the chaos began, now’s a good time to check out your garage. In the main garage menu, you can view your current vehicles along with their upgrades and special abilities.

You’ll need to choose wisely how you want to spend your cash, especially as you add more vehicles to your garage later on. If you want an easier way in from the start, or if you’re struggling along the way, you also have the option to watch ads for additional earnings.

When you’re ready, the green play button in the bottom right corner of the garage map takes you to the next level, but (once again) be warned – things get increasingly crazy and intense as the game progresses!

Road Of Fury 4 game modes

There are no specific game modes in Road of Fury 4. The goal is simply survival as you progress through the levels on the map, fighting off wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies.

As you meet other characters throughout your journey in the game’s story mode, they’ll add their cars to the garage and increase the size of your squad.

Although you’ll now have added firepower to fight the bad guys as you go out in full force, the enemies will also be endlessly recruiting to make things substantially harder with each new level.

Each vehicle needs to be upgraded individually, and managing your convoy becomes increasingly important as the difficulty ramps up.

Tuning and upgrades

It probably won’t come as a massive surprise that drifting isn’t the name of the game in Road Of Fury 4, but it doesn’t mean you’re not provided with plenty of tuning upgrades. They’re just a little different from what people who are used to playing drift games might be used to!

Instead of upgrading your engine, wheels, and fiberglass body kits, you’ll need to upgrade the devices and weapons that’ll help you in the fight to survive, and there are plenty of those.

In the main garage screen, you’ll see your current vehicles (your crew increases as you progress). Each vehicle needs to be upgraded individually, and here’s what you’ll be looking at:

Vehicle Level (HP) – Purchasing this level-up increases the max HP. You can see the current HP in green and the upgrade target in gray. The price tag under each is the cost to upgrade to the next level (if it’s red, you don’t have enough cash right now).

Screenshot – Passive devices assist you along the way.

Pink – Passive (automatic) devices – These auto-run without you needing to press anything. You equip one per vehicle. Depending on your car, you’ll have the option to upgrade these with the following:

  • Gravity Gear
  • Shield
  • Emergency Repair
  • Oil Dispenser
  • Gravity Gear
  • Nemesis Kit

You’ll unlock even more as you progress.

Yellow – Weapon (fires automatically) – Choose your weapon, which fires on its own as you aim. Upgrading increases the firepower by boosting the Damage (DMG) ability and/or rate of fire (RPM). Depending on your vehicle, these include options such as:

  • Minigun Cannon
  • Kord
  • Plasma Gun
  • Blade Shooter
  • Mortar

Blue – Active device (1-3 keyboard buttons) – These are your special abilities that have limited uses based on a cooldown/charge timer. You use these by pressing the corresponding number key listed next to them in the bottom left when you’re playing the game.

You need to choose one for each vehicle, based on which you think will be most useful. Upgrading provides shorter charge time (allowing for more frequent use) and the ability to unlock new active weapons as your Rank increases.

These include:

  • Airstrike
  • Time Compressor (temporarily slows down time)
  • Energy Armor
  • MRLS

Road Of Fury 4 advanced tips & tricks

Aim for the vehicles, not the Raiders on them

They’re easier to aim for, and when they explode, they’ll take the shooter with them. It’s much more efficient than trying to pick off individual riders.

Keep your eyes peeled for what’s happening directly above

Road Of Fury 4 - Image 22
Screenshot – You’ll need to learn to prioritize what to target first.

Kamikaze pilots can take you by surprise when you least expect it. Don’t get so focused on ground threats that you forget to check the skies. When they come down, they’re capable of causing huge destruction.

Use air strikes when things are getting hectic on the ground

Road Of Fury 4 - Image 23
Screenshot – Putting the air strike to good use. But, be warned, it won’t destroy everything.

If you’ve got an enemy flying above you that needs shooting down, you’ll leave yourself exposed on the ground. Pop an airstrike to clear the ground threats while you deal with the aerial attackers. It’s important to plan accordingly and use the special weapons to your advantage when things get chaotic.

Make sure to put the target crosshair on the bonuses in the sky

Road Of Fury 4 - Image 24
Screenshot – Man down!

Occasionally, you’ll have a bonus icon floating around. While these are good to collect, you’ll need to point the crosshair at them to grab the rewards, and you can also enable the Gravity Gear feature to pull them toward you automatically.

Explode the rockets before they reach you

Road Of Fury 4 - Image 25
Screenshot – As you can see, things will soon target you from all angles.

If a rocket (or other weapon) is heading towards you, shoot it to ensure it explodes before it can cause any damage. While you can destroy the missiles, you can’t stop the smaller bullets, so prioritize the bigger threats.

Road Of Fury 4 FAQ

Is Road Of Fury 4 mobile-friendly?

Yes, it’s perfectly optimized for mobile devices, complete with a unique button overlay to keep things simple.

What’s the main objective in each level?

Survive the run by reaching the end/progress target without getting blown up by the Unholy Raiders.

How do you drive the cars?

The vehicles drive automatically, and the weapons auto-fire. You just need to choose what to aim for and the best timing for when to use your special weapons.

What happens if one of the vehicles gets destroyed?

You lose a big chunk of your firepower, making the remainder of the level much harder. If you survive a later level with just one vehicle, take a bow!

What does the Shield passive do, and how does upgrading it help?

It makes your vehicle stronger by absorbing some damage. Upgrading increases how much it can handle before it damages your vehicle.

What does Gravity Gear do?

It pulls the bonuses and pickups toward you automatically to ensure you capture the bonuses you’d otherwise miss while fighting.

What does Oil Dispenser do, and why is it useful?

It boosts the weapon rotation speed, helping you to aim and track targets faster.

What does Time Compressor do, and when’s the best time to use it?

This enables temporary slow-motion. It’s great when too many rockets, drones, and ground threats are attacking you all at once, and you need to focus on your priorities.

What does the Airstrike do?

It launches a huge wave of missiles to the ground, making it perfect for clearing your ground enemies in a single button press.

Similar games we recommend

Earn To Die will undoubtedly look like a similar game for Road Of Fury fans, but this time, you need to drive your vehicle through a zombie apocalypse. Instead of worrying about so many varied threats in the sky, you again need to tune and upgrade your vehicles and weaponry to plow through bigger groups of zombies and keep progressing towards safety.

Epic Racing – Descent On Cars is a great option if you enjoyed the pressure and chaos of Road Of Fury 4 but miss the driving aspect. Instead of just aiming at threats, you’ll need to show off your best racing skills as your rivals ram, block, and try their best to shove you off the track, with rewards for smashing anything in sight along the way.

If you enjoyed the shooting aspect of this one, Bullet Force should be a definite consideration. Arguably one of the best-ever shooting browser games, this online first-person shooter will be the ultimate test of your skills as you fight against the best players across the globe. You won’t believe you can play this one for free in your browser!
