Twenty Bucks Says You Can’t Guess The Insane Engine In This Ultimate Sleeper Volvo
Table of Contents
I’ve seen plenty of Volvos with wild engine swaps in my time, but nothing has been as unsuspecting as this one.

If you haven’t figured out the engine, the absolutely insane sounds coming out of this old-school Volvo in the video below might give it away… once you’ve picked your jaw up.
Here’s what’s under the hood
Dubbed the ‘Volvoghini’, it’s the creation of Peter Björck, which has been years in the making – a Volvo 245 wagon with an unthinkable Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0L V10 swap.

It’s not just any Gallardo engine, either, but a GT2 race car powerplant pushing out over 500 horsepower.

Putting the power to the wheels is a BMW GS6-45BZ six-speed manual box typically found in the M140i and M240i.
Almost blending in with the crowd
The build was being showcased at the Rättvik Hill Climb in Rättvik, Sweden, alongside Classic Car Week 2025 (which you can also enjoy in the video), alongside some of the craziest builds imaginable. Beforehand, the Volvoghini did the grocery run and even towed a caravan to the show.

Classic Car Week brings the typical laid-back, fun, yet bonkers Nordic vibes that I’ve been fortunate enough to experience firsthand at Gatebil.
Let’s just say these guys are equally as crazy when it comes to partying as they are with their car builds! If you ever have a chance to head to a show over there, don’t hesitate.
There were a couple of minor hiccups

Along with ground clearance issues, Peter admits his driving skills are rusty, and he’s dealing with some teething problems like the throttle getting stuck under the floor mat – not too ideal when you have that much power and instant throttle response!

Regardless, Peter still had some great moments dealing with what’s undoubtedly a lot to handle, and it looks like he had a bunch of fun in the process. The fan-favorite build likely had little competition for the sound award, either.
There’s more to the story
If you’re like us and want to know more, you can watch the whole ‘Volvoghini’ project from start to finish in this video.
As you can guess, it was far from a simple build. It’s undoubtedly worth it for the final outcome, though!
We hope to see it head to the track for some sideways action next!
