Crazy Traffic Racer summary

Crazy Traffic Racer brings awesome graphics and physics to the classic highway racer-style game. You’ll experience high-intensity, endless dodging chaos as you weave through four lanes of traffic at crazy speeds, as your car vibrates and shakes like it’s doing a million miles per hour.

Choose from four locations and three game modes, including the most challenging high-earning, adrenaline-pumping two-way mode, where you’ll need to thread the gaps against the high-speed oncoming traffic.

For maximum earnings, you’ll need to avoid crashing while chaining combos and keeping the car over 100 km/h on the wrong side of the highway, all while trying your best not to smash into the innocent commuters and total your ride.

The ever-increasing sense of speed combined with the tail-happy, twitchy handling makes this epic racing game far more challenging, intense, and fun than you might expect. Learning advanced driving (and drifting) techniques like countersteering and weight transfer will give you the best chance of understanding how this works.

Once you’ve mastered the tricky physics, you’ll put your hard-earned cash toward unlocking new rides, maximizing their potential, and getting them looking the part with a selection of styling and performance upgrades.

How to play Crazy Traffic Racer

Initial setup

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 19
Screenshot – Yay, free money!

When you launch Crazy Traffic Racer, you’re immediately given a choice. You can opt for a gift of 10,000 credits or watch an ad to get 20,000. After that, you’re dropped straight onto the single-direction (One Way) highway with traffic already flowing around you.

Think of this as a test run. There’s no pressure, just get used to the controls and practice steering around the cars and braking for now. Also, try toggling the camera view (C key) to see which view you prefer, as they both feel very different.

Since it’s an endless game mode, you’ll continue until your damage (red bar at the bottom of the screen) fills up, and then it’ll be game over.

Once you’ve run out of luck, you’ll automatically head back to the main menu. Here, you can see the game settings and tuning/upgrade options:

At this point, be sure to head to the daily rewards screen, where you’ll be gifted with another 1,000 additional credits. If you want even more, you can watch an ad for another 1,000 (in the bottom center).

You can check out the car selection by pressing the left/right arrows on the sides of the screen, and you’re already able to buy more rides with the free bonuses you’ve been given if you wish. Or you can put it toward upgrades (we recommend getting the nitrous (NOS) first to enable it). We’ll dive into the other tuning and upgrade options shortly.

Getting started

When you’re strapped back in and ready for another round of chaos, click PLAY in the bottom right.

From here, you’ll pick a game mode (One Way, Two Way, or Time Attack) and then choose a location.

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 21
Screenshot – The screen you don’t want to see. Game over.

As you probably figured by now, your primary objective is simple – don’t crash! (If that’s your thing, we’ve got a crash-based gaming section.)

You need to monitor the red damage/life bar at the bottom of the screen, and smoke coming from your car as a visual warning when you’re low on health. When this happens, you need to be extra careful, as it’s not the same thing as drifty tire smoke!

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 22
Screenshot – When your damage bar is this full, it only takes one more small hit to destroy your car.

Once you’ve got the hang of not crashing into everything, you’ll move on to the secondary objectives. Driving as far as possible while stacking as many bonuses as possible to boost your high scores, and earnings/credits (which you’ll get to spend in the showroom/garage). You’ll see a breakdown for each of these at the end-of-run summary screen.

When you’re out there, watch for other cars’ blinkers (or indicators) to anticipate sudden lane changes and avoid collisions.

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 23
Screenshot – Pushing the limits, and beyond.

The handling feels twitchy and tail-happy, almost like a drift car, so use small taps left and right rather than big, sweeping turns to manage the (somewhat unpredictable) body roll and suspension wobble. Think of the physics as a car that’s currently on stock springs, and in desperate need of a coilover upgrade!

Crazy Traffic Racer game modes

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 24
Screenshot – You get the choice of three game modes.

One Way

The traditional endless highway run style, where all the traffic flows in the same direction. It’s good for beginners who want to get a hang of things rather than jumping in at the deep end with oncoming traffic.

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 25
Screenshot – In One Way, all the traffic heads in the same direction, making it ideal for beginners.

You’ll earn bonuses for distance, near-miss combos, and high-speed time. There’s no wrong-way bonus in this mode, making it the safest option for beginners or consistency runs.

Two Way

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 26
Screenshot – Taking things up a notch in Two Way.

This is the hardest mode, but also the fastest way to make money. This time, traffic is flowing in both directions, making it the ultimate test of your driving skills.

Unlike One Way, you also get to stack Wrong Way time bonuses on top of the usual rewards by spending time driving into the traffic. The longer you survive in the oncoming lanes, the bigger the bonus.

Time Attack

In this mode, you need to monitor the countdown timer in the top-left corner and reach the finish before it runs out. Since you won’t know where the finish line is, you’ll need to commit to driving as fast as possible and pulling off high-risk near-crashes. You also need to finish without your damage bar filling up, which adds even more pressure.

If you’re looking for a similar highway racer with more modes, check out Highway Traffic, featuring a ‘Speed Bomb’ mode where you’ll have a live explosive on board a bus for added danger! The graphics aren’t as good, but it’s still worth checking out.

There are no online gaming modes in Crazy Traffic Racer, but if you’re looking to play with your friends in online multiplayer, we recommend checking out two of the most popular picks – Drift King and Survival Race.

Locations/highways

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 27
Screenshot – Choose the scenery that tickles your fancy.

After choosing your game mode, you’re given a choice of four locations:

  • Desert Valley
  • Snow City
  • Morning City
  • Iceland

Crazy Traffic Racer car selection

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 28
Screenshot – Sideswipin’ a truck after a last-second lane change.

You get six cars to choose from, with the most expensive priced at a very reasonable 25,000 credits. The full roster includes recognizable lookalikes, such as a Porsche-style starter car, a Mustang-based muscle car, and various supercars and hypercars, including a Lamborghini Veneno lookalike.

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 29
Screenshot – Threading the needle. Moves like this are much harder than they look at 200 KM/H!

Each car has a different interior, so the cockpit view varies on each ride. The more expensive vehicles feel noticeably faster with more responsive steering, so they’re often worth buying rather than just upgrading the starter car – unless you have a favorite!

You can test drive any car before buying (click ‘Test Drive’ in the showroom) to get a feel for how it handles.

If you fancy a break from cars, the same guys at Fuego! Games that created Crazy Traffic Racer also have a motorbike equivalent – Moto Traffic Rider. Instead of being in a car, you’ll be riding a motorcycle at breakneck speeds, where the physics will feel super familiar after playing this.

Tuning and upgrades

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 30
Screenshot – Looking pretty sweet, huh?

Five performance upgrades are available by clicking the ‘Engine’ icon on the main menu:

  • Acceleration
  • Handling/steering
  • Braking
  • Top speed
  • Nitrous

Unlike the others, nitrous is a one-time purchase at 2,500 credits with no upgrade levels – you either have it, or you don’t. You can activate it by using the ‘F’ key in the game.

The other four stats each have five upgrade tiers, with each level costing 1,000 credits. Upgrading is quick and affordable, making it easy to max out your favorite cars.

Customization

Alongside the performance upgrades are two styling/cosmetic choices:

Paint – 9 color options (no full palette), ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 credits

Wheels – You get 8 aftermarket wheel options at 2,500 credits each.

Admittedly, it’s not the most comprehensive tuning game. The best pick for this is Drift Hunters MAX, which offers performance upgrades (brakes, weight reduction, gearbox, turbo/boost, engine). You can also adjust advanced tuning settings like boost/brake pressure, front/rear camber, wheel offset, brake balance, and ride height. There’s also a crazy car selection, with 39 drift cars to choose from!

Bonuses and scoring

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 31
Screenshot – Note that your score doesn’t equal your actual cash earnings.

Your end-of-run summary breaks down the earnings into several bonus categories:

Total distance – Rewarded for total distance covered during the run.

Near miss – Dodging traffic closely without contact builds an increasing combo bonus. Any contact resets the combo immediately.

Keep above 100km/h – Once you’re above this, a timer starts. The longer you maintain the speed, the larger the bonus.

Opposite direction – Wrong-way bonus (Two Way only). This is a time-based bonus (in seconds) that increases the longer you spend driving in oncoming lanes. Not available in One Way or Time Attack.

Crazy Traffic Racer advanced tips & tricks

Drive conservatively early on

In your first few runs, test the brakes (try a combo of brake and e-brake to slam on the anchors) and see how the damage affects your ride. Build consistency and master these before chasing the big bonuses.

Try to combine the bonus earnings as you improve

Once you’re comfortable, try to max out all the bonuses by keeping the high-speed timer running and building near-miss combos without making any contact with the traffic.

Use small steering taps, not big, sudden changes

Since the handling feels twitchy with noticeable body roll, you’ll want to avoid heavy steering whenever possible.

Use small taps of the left and right keys to navigate the lanes smoothly. We’re still waiting for a highway traffic game where you get to drift between the cars properly, but this is about as close as you’ll get for now.

Aim for side scrapes over full impacts when you have no other choice

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 32
Screenshot – Uh-oh…

If a crash is unavoidable, try to scrape the side of the vehicle rather than hitting the rear (or worse, the front) of it. Side scrapes do less damage to your health bar.

Farm wrong-way time in Two Way mode

Wrong-way driving boosts your earnings fast, so it’s a great way to earn cash quickly. Dip into the oncoming lanes whenever it’s safe, rack up time, then return to the correct side when traffic gets too heavy to avoid crashing. Don’t worry if the bonus timer disappears, as it’s all added up at the end.

Use nitrous strategically

Crazy Traffic Racer - Image 33
Screenshot – Utilizing the nitrous for added boost.

Nitro is limited and recharges over time. Use it (F key once upgraded) to escape tight situations or commit to last-ditch gap hunting, but don’t just hold it down mindlessly. You’ll want it available when things get hectic.

Watch for blinkers

Traffic is good at indicating lane changes with blinkers (even if they’re often a little later than you’d like). Pay attention to these to predict their next moves and avoid sudden collisions.

Crazy Traffic Racer FAQ

Is Crazy Traffic Racer mobile-friendly?

Yes, it’s fully optimized for Android and iOS devices with on-screen touch controls.

What happens when the damage bar fills up?

Your run ends immediately. There’s no way to repair damage mid-run, so avoiding crashes whenever possible is vital.

Can I save my progress?

Your progress is saved automatically in your browser, but you risk losing it if you clear your cache/cookies.

What’s the fastest way to earn credits in Crazy Traffic Racer?

Play Two Way mode and spend as much time in the oncoming lanes to stack the wrong-way bonus on top of distance, high-speed, and near-miss bonuses.

Do the more expensive cars perform better?

Yes, premium cars feel noticeably faster and handle better, but you’ll also see significant improvements when you upgrade cheaper vehicles to their maximum potential.

How does nitrous (NOS) work?

Nitrous is a one-time purchase in the tuning menu that gives you a temporary speed boost (F key). It recharges over time, so use it wisely.

Can I try out the cars I can’t afford before buying?

Yes, you can try any car by clicking ‘Test Drive’ in the showroom, but you won’t be able to unlock its full potential until it’s in your garage.
