Getting started
At the beginning, you’ll start with the choice of just one free squad car in your garage, but you can also take a look at what you need to save for in the showroom by scrolling through the (currently locked) vehicles.
The good news is you can modify your patrol car for free right away, with plenty of options to tweak and customize your ride. If you want to do this, head to the ‘Tuning & customization’ section below for full details. For now, we’ll explain how to jump straight into patrol duty.
Optimizing in-game settings
When you’re ready, hit ‘PLAY’ to venture into the game.
First off, head to the in-game pause menu (top-left button), which offers more settings than the main menu.
If you’re on a decent-spec device, select ‘High’ quality, and the graphic enhancements will make the city come to life with much more detail.
Don’t worry if you need to keep it Low or Medium. You can still enjoy everything the game offers – just slide the quality bar down until the game runs smoothly.
It’s worth noting that you also have buttons in the settings menu to quickly head back to the garage (to customize/change the car), return to the main menu, or respawn if you get stuck (which might happen in super tricky cops-and-robbers situations).
For now, let’s click resume and see what else you need to know.
Understanding the in-game interface
Rank
You can access this menu in the top left, just below the fuel gauge. This shows your rank as a serving officer. Whenever you earn money, your rank grows in the background, and you can keep an eye on it here.
There are a total of 12 ranks to climb through, and while you’re climbing the ranks, your cash can also be put to good use by getting the keys to some of the awesome police cars that are currently locked in the showroom.
Map
This is in the top-right corner of the game screen – click it to zoom in. It shows your marker on the large city map, as well as the locations of suspects you’ll need to hunt down or the incident you’ll need to rush to.
Be prepared – sometimes you’ll need to venture into the wildest parts of the mountainous terrain you see on the map, even if you don’t have the ideal cop car for the task!
Earnings/cash
In the top center, you can see your current bank balance.
When you’ve earned enough cash, you’ll be informed that you’ve unlocked new patrol cars in the showroom.
It’s worth keeping an eye on your dream car so you know how much to save from the start. For example, you’ll unlock a rather boring-looking all-wheel-drive SUV as your first car, but the next unlock is the rear-wheel-drive Ferrari, which is perfect for drifting. As you probably guessed, I decided to keep saving!

How to play Drift Police Simulator
As you cruise or drift around the city ensuring law and order, you’ll frequently get calls on the radio to undertake a wide variety of police tasks.
Missions
From chasing drunk drivers to escorting the president, to getting to the scene of a plane crash in time, to high-speed pursuits with wanted drivers, there’s no shortage of different things to do.
However, if you fail the missions, you’ll lose cash, so be sure not to take anything on if you think it might be too hard to handle. You can do this by rejecting the job. Don’t worry, other jobs will arrive soon after – plenty of criminal activity goes on in this city.
If you accept the job, you’ll be provided with all the details for the case:
- Cause – What they’ve done wrong, or the details of the case
- Profile – A description of what to expect (in this case, the runner is armed, despite only running a light)
- Time left – Shows how much time you have to complete the mission
The blue bar below shows exactly what you need to do to complete the mission. In this case, you need to stay next to the evader long enough to carry out the arrest.
Starting a mission
Once you start the mission, you’ll be presented with an arrow in the top right, explaining the direction you need to follow. You can also click the map for a better view of where you’re going, but make sure you’re quick, as the clock is ticking.
Each mission has a different objective, so make sure you read the case details carefully. Sometimes you’ll need to destroy the getaway driver’s car, and other times you’ll only need to reach the destination in time.
Others include showing off your top-speed driving skills or protecting government officials (in this case, you definitely don’t want to ram into them!).
You can find bonus cash in hidden locations, so make sure you browse around and explore the city in between the missions.
Tuning & customization
In the ‘Painter’ menu, you can choose from the following options:
Paint
Unlike most games, Drift Police Simulator lets you use a brush to paint specific parts of your car in various colors, also letting you create some wacky and fun designs.
Don’t worry if you get it wrong. You can always use the repaint feature below to give it an instant respray, or click the ‘UNDO’ or ‘RESET’ buttons.
Decals
In this mode, you can apply decals to your state patrol car with a wide selection of serious, fun, and hilarious options. There are so many to choose from, you could even create a full custom livery.
Once you’ve chosen an ideal decal, select it, then place it on the car. You can then choose ‘DECAL SIZE’ to resize it, and ‘DECAL ROTATION’ to change the angle. If you place it somewhere you don’t want it, use ‘UNDO’ to go back, or ‘RESET’ to start over.
Effect
This section lets you choose between a gloss or matte paint job.
Repaint
This is a typical respray, where a single click paints your car a single color. You can choose from just about every color you can think of, which is perfect for going undercover (besides the obvious lights on the roof!) or becoming the coolest sheriff in town with a one-off paint job.
If you feel the fresh look is a bit boring after a repaint, you can always apply some decals or head back to the ‘Paint’ mode to use the brushes.
Wheels
Choose from six wheel choices, ranging from simple upgrades to drag slicks and even F1-style options.
Tire smoke
Choose from six different tire smoke colors for awesome visuals when you throw your cop car sideways.
Garage & showroom
Cop car selection
There are 10 cars in total in Drift Police Simulator, including the free starter car. These range from typical American enforcement vehicles like the Ford Crown Victoria to much more exotic choices like Ferrari and Dodge Viper, to JDM legends like the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R.
Make sure you check out the ‘Acceleration’, ‘Speed’, and ‘Handling’ to choose the perfect car for your needs. If you’re likely to spend more time off-roading during your pursuits, there’s also an SUV and a Hummer – there really is something for everyone!
Mods & upgrades
While you can fully customize the look of your cop car, you’re not able to upgrade your ride with performance modifications in Drift Police Simulator. If this is what you’re after, Drift Hunters MAX offers the most in-depth tuning and upgrade features of all the free browser games at Drifted.
Drift Police Simulator FAQ
Can I reject a mission?
Yes, you can decline the mission within the in-game phone when it pops up. Some missions are more exciting than others, so your patience will likely pay off.
Are some police cars better at drifting than others?
Absolutely. The free starter car struggles to get sideways due to the lack of power, but as you unlock some of the better cars, you’ll soon have maximum control over the angle and power. The Police Dodge Viper and Ferrari are awesome for sliding around the city, track, or the countryside.
What’s the fastest car in Drift Police Simulator?
Surprisingly, it’s the Hummer! With 89 for acceleration and 91 for speed, it outpaces the quickest hypercars. However, it only gets 43 for handling, so it’s definitely not going to be the best choice in the twisties or if you want to show off your drift skills.
How many tracks are in Drift Police Simulator?
This is an open-world game, but tracks and race circuits are hidden around the city. Check out the map, and you’ll soon see what you’re looking for.
Is there a quick way to earn cash in Drift Police Simulator?
There are 10 cash piles hidden in the least likely places across the city, so keep your eyes peeled and venture into the strangest locations you can think of between missions.
How do you save game progress in Drift Police Simulator?
When you complete missions, earn cash, and rise up the ranks, it’ll all save automatically in your browser cache. That means when you play the game next time, they’ll already be there.
Can you do stunts in Drift Police Simulator?
You sure can. While there are various ramps and things to crash into just about everywhere you can think of, the industrial areas are great for pulling off sick stunts.
Is there AI traffic?
You’ll find plenty of traffic within the city, but when you head to the countryside, it gets much quieter. If drifting through the traffic is your thing, stick with the more populated areas.
