Veterans Day – U.S. Drifting Events And Opportunities For Those Who Served
Table of Contents
The drifting community’s connection with the military runs deep. From Formula DRIFT to grassroots events offering veterans discounted track time and free entry, here’s what’s available for those who served.
It’s Veterans Day, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the brave men and women who have served, or continue to serve, our country. The drift scene has long had strong ties to the military, so we’ve put together some of the best events and opportunities available to our troops.
Anyone who’s watched Formula DRIFT has undoubtedly seen the U.S. Air Force’s close involvement with the sport through its presence at events and sponsorship of the series.
The Air Force also serves as the title sponsor for Sorensen Motorsports, with siblings Amanda and Branden Sorensen wearing distinctive U.S. Air Force liveries throughout the season. You’ve also got Connor O’Sullivan repping the U.S. Army and The Veterans Trust.
Alongside the current military partnerships, veterans are actively competing in FD’s PROSPEC series, including Matthew Bystrak, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and Douglas “DJ” Stubstad, a U.S. Army veteran who served as an Infantryman at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Drifting opportunities for veterans
The drift community has plenty of upcoming events and opportunities for veterans to take part in or enjoy on the sidelines for free.
Here are a few of our top picks we recommend checking out:
The Veterans Trust event at Orlando Speed World
On December 6, 2025, The Veterans Trust (TVT) will offer the opportunity to join the action alongside the US Drift Circuit‘s PRO-AM Round 4 – the “only Formula DRIFT Pro-Am program in the Southeast.”
The Veterans Trust is offering 25 participant tickets and VIP access to the TVT Booth for active military, veterans, and first responders.
Alongside the track action, you’ll get the chance to show off your skills on the Full Send Sims driving sim, with real drift car ride-alongs also up for grabs.
All you need to do is sign up to participate over at The Veterans Trust website.
Here’s what you can expect from the action at the on-track USDC competition:
Texas Drift Academy’s hand-controlled drift car experience
For veterans with disabilities who’ve dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a drift car, Texas Drift Academy offers a real opportunity.
Using a Nissan 350Z that’s been converted to use hand controls for throttle and braking instead of pedals, it’s the perfect chance to fulfill your drifting dreams.
Head over to Texas Drift Academy if this sounds like something you, or someone you know, might be interested in. It’s a great potential gift for veterans and fans with disabilities.
Veterans Salute at Driven Luck Circuit
In the heart of Bryant, Alabama, Driven Luck Circuit is a family-owned drift track that hosts a two-day Veterans Day Salute event over Veterans weekend.
Veterans who want to drift get 50% off registration, and any vets who wish to spectate get in for free.
Here’s what went down at the 2024 event, which looked like a blast:
CrowdStrike Veterans Race of Remembrance
If you fancy something a little different from drifting, this six-hour endurance race honors veterans and is held at Virginia International Raceway on Veterans Day weekend.
Vetdrenaline Racing opportunities
Founded by an Army veteran, Vetdrenaline offers drifting, off-roading, and other experiences designed to help veterans manage Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
If this could help, you can check out their website here and keep up to date with all the latest events on their Facebook page.
To all veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders reading this: thank you for your service and sacrifice. We hope this list helps you find the right opportunity.
Whether you’re spectating, taking advantage of discounted track time, or getting behind the wheel for the first time, the drifting community is here to support you. Enjoy every minute.
