Just when you thought Burnout was gone forever, Wreckreation has dropped a new trailer, and it’s giving off serious Burnout Paradise vibes (along with a few other favorites).

A small taste of the carnage – see why we’re getting Burnout vibes yet?

Unveiled during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025, the (42-second) clip doesn’t reveal much, but explosive crashes, full rage racing, and open-world stunting mayhem are clearly the focus.

If you missed the original reveal back in 2022, Wreckreation is being developed by Three Fields Entertainment, a studio made up of OG Burnout devs, and published by THQ Nordic. In other words, it’s being saved from the slow decline that Burnout faced under EA.

Tell me you’re not tempted…

You’d be forgiven for thinking it looks like another Wreckfest (confusingly, another THQ game), but there are a couple of stand-out features that make it unique.

Some recognizable “inspired” cars get ready for carnage. We know which one we think will be best at going sideways!

Firstly, unlike the tracks in Wreckfest, this features “MixWorld”, a huge open world map where you get to create, race, and wreck your rides across “400 square kilometers of pure sandbox joy”.

That looks… Sketchy.

Plus, you get a full suite of building tools that let you design your own loops, jumps, and ridiculous stunt tracks. You’ll then be able to play solo or with friends on your wild creations.

You’ll be able to redesign the world exactly how you want it – even if it makes no sense whatsoever!

Want a better look at the track editor? The original trailer from two years ago gives a much better glimpse:

Our only real complaint? There’s not nearly enough sideways action!

Although the latest trailer doesn’t show any sideways action, we got a donut delivery in the initial teaser.

Thankfully, we got a little taster (along with a few “drift-inspired” cars) in the initial trailer to provide some optimism.

We’re getting Mustang vibes (and uh… Volvo, too, maybe?) Regardless, there’s smoke coming from the rear tires!

Still, for a game with Burnout blood in its veins, we were hoping to see a little more sliding alongside the wrecking.

Wreckreation is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though there’s still no official release date. You can wishlist the game now on Steam, but for now, it’s only listed as “Coming soon”.

It’s still early days, but if you’ve been waiting for a true spiritual successor to Burnout Paradise, this might be the closest you’ll get

Until Wreckreation drops, we recommend checking out the free, browser-based Madalin Stunt Cars 3 to get your crazy stunt fix right away!
