CarX Street has proven itself as a popular open-world racing (and drifting) game since its mobile debut in 2022, and console fans are finally getting their taste of the action.

Set in Sunset City, Street follows the typical CarX playbook – mobile first, then PC, and then (eventually) consoles. The PC version launched on Steam in 2024 and has now sold almost 330,000 copies, with many fans praising the game following numerous recent updates and bug fixes.

However, as always, console fans have been eager to express their feelings on social media following the lack of Xbox and PlayStation releases.

Thankfully, Xbox fans can finally stop refreshing their feed for updates, and there’s good news for PlayStation gamers, too!

Should we vote on who wins the booty contest?

CarX Street releases on Xbox Series X|S on June 18, 2025, priced at $29.99, and is now available for pre-order

Following the pre-order announcement, the team thankfully pulled off a similar move to when they announced the PC version, by declaring that the game will officially arrive (very) shortly after.

What To Expect From The Xbox Release

With 92 vehicles on offer on day one, there’s no shortage of choice, or stunning views, for that matter!

Before you complain that the Xbox version has a $10 price hike over the PC (Steam) game, there’s more good news here.

The console version includes all of the DLC content from the PC version as part of the core game. That means you get the four DLC packs that PC players still need to purchase separately (with a total cost of $33.96 on Steam), all bundled from day one.

In addition, the team has rolled out numerous updates for PC since launch, and all these improvements are included in the console release, so you’ll (hopefully) get a polished version from launch.

This means you’ll get all of the following:

  • Performance and stability fixes
  • Newly released cars
  • Expanded multiplayer with user-created rooms
  • The StreetNET league system
  • Improved inventory system for car parts
  • Better tuning options and controller support
  • Rebalanced economy with increased rewards
  • Enhanced visuals, including better smoke effects

Rubbing is racing! An old-school 911 battles it out on the streets against a Honda Integra DC5.

You’ll join StreetNET, the game’s underground racing network, where you’ll need to prove your skills while building your dream car collection.

Free Drift Races let you practice your skills in parking lots before hitting the challenging Drift Races on the twisty touge mountain roads.

Whether you’re looking to go cruisin’ with the homies, skidding, or chasing down lap times, Street has it all.

Multiplayer includes Battle Mode for 1v1 showdowns, Speed League for circuit racing, Time Attack for leaderboard chasing, and Chase Mode, where you need to get more than 300+ meters ahead of your opponent.

Meanwhile, Delivery Quests let you transport cars and parts around Sunset City for extra cash. Needless to say, there’s no shortage of things to do!

If you’re not already familiar with the CarX physics engine, it offers an excellent balance of arcade fun and realistic handling. This means it’s enjoyable for both beginners and pros alike, whether you’re racing or going sideways.

Once you get a taste of the drifting action, you’ll likely want to try CarX Drift Racing Online, too. We can assure you it doesn’t disappoint.

At the Street launch, there will be 92 different vehicles to choose from, along with the typically in-depth tuning and customization you’d expect from a CarX game.

Cross-platform play means you’ll get to race, battle, and tandem with PC players online, as well as PlayStation owners when they arrive shortly after. Full steering wheel support is also expected.

Here’s The Good News For PlayStation Players

Wait… Are those Skyline R33 GTR wheels?!

When we reached out to CarX Technologies, they confirmed a PS5 version is coming later this summer, with the same $29.99 price tag.

Further information on the PlayStation release is expected to follow shortly.

Previous-Gen And Nintendo Switch Support

Unfortunately, there are currently no plans for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions. When we reached out, CarX Technologies also confirmed that they’re not currently intending to bring CarX Street to Nintendo Switch or Switch 2.

It’s Set To Be An Exciting Year For CarX Fans

CarX Street’s day and night cycles provide stunning visuals.

The Xbox release is the latest in what’s set to be a huge remainder of the year for the franchise.

The PlayStation is expected to arrive soon, and CarX Drift Racing Online 2 is planned to launch on Steam Early Access in Q4 2025, with a full release coming by the end of the year.

Console versions are expected to follow the PC Early Access period once again, likely pushing into 2026.

It’s also an exciting time for open-world drifting games in general, and with the potential announcement of Forza Horizon 6 coming soon, we can’t wait to see what the near future has in store!
