NSR Street Car Racing delivers the full Need for Speed experience directly in your browser, and you’ll probably be shocked at how in-depth it is for a game you can play without needing to install a thing!

Whether you want some quick, open-world action, online races against your friends, or an in-depth online multiplayer mode, this game has it all.

NSR’s open-world street racing experience feels surprisingly realistic, too, with insanely detailed graphics and impressive physics. Best of all, it works flawlessly across every device you own, whether you’re using a gaming PC, a basic school Chromebook, or your mobile.

NSR Street Car Racing Controls

As well as driving your car, these controls also explain how to make your character move around the city (GTA-style!)

Keyboard Controls (PC/Laptop/Chromebook)

  • W or Up Arrow – Accelerate/move forward
  • S or Down Arrow – Brake/move backward
  • A or Left Arrow – Steer left/move left
  • D or Right Arrow – Steer right/move right
  • Shift – Nitrous boost

Mobile/Tablet Controls

The on-screen touch controls will provide you with all the buttons you need to know.

How To Play NSR Street Car Racing

The best way to get started is to dive straight into the in-game tutorials you’ll get when you first fire up the game. If you forget the controls, remember we’ve listed them above.

Heads up – this isn’t a typical browser racing game where you can simply hold your foot on the throttle and magically win every race. It’s properly challenging, and if you’re planning to head into the career mode, the AI competitors aren’t messing around (and just wait until you see how tough it is online!)

The tutorial system guides you through everything from basic acceleration to drifting techniques, which you’ll need to take advantage of the tight and twisty turns of the neon-lit city streets.

When you’re just getting started, all you’ll be able to afford is an amusing collection of 90s European tuner cars. Don’t underestimate them once they’ve been upgraded enough, though!

How To Drift In NSR Street Car Racing

On tight corners, a well-timed drift (using the Space key) can be the ultimate way to outshine your opponents. However, try not to hold it too long, or you’ll scrub off too much speed, which is especially noticeable on the cheaper cars with slower acceleration.

Once you master weight transfer and momentum, drifting around corners can be the perfect way to win races in the final turn.

NSR Street Racing Car List

NSR currently offers 50 different rides in the ‘Car Dealer’ along with many familiar legendary tuner cars, and plenty more new additions dropping regularly.

Although you’d probably be ashamed to be seen behind the wheel of some of the starter cars in the real world, once you’ve built up some decent cash in the bank, you can get your hands on 90s JDM cars and European supercars.

The variety is genuinely impressive. Everything from 90s touring cars and rally specials, to JDM legends and modern-day hypercars that’ll let you build your dream street racer.

Tuning & Customization

Screenshot – Put your cash to good use by upgrading even the entry-level rides, and you’ll be surprised at the stock cars you’ll be able to embarrass on the streets!

In the ‘Upgrades’ menu, you can use your rewards to carry out the following upgrades:

  • Speed – Top-end performance for long straights
  • Acceleration – Perfect for quickly launching, and catching up on any speed you lost mid-drift
  • Nitrous – Provides increased boost duration and intensity
  • Handling – Cornering grip and responsiveness
  • Brake – Stopping power for the tight sections (there’s no shortage of them, either!)

Beyond these upgrades, the customization garage allows you to fully customize the design of your ride, enabling you to create genuinely unique builds that match your driving style before showcasing them online.

NSR Game Modes

There’s a HUGE selection of street racing opportunities in NSR, whether you want to compete online or work your way through the comprehensive career mode.

Career Mode

Crew Battles puts you up against the ultimate underground street racers. Think of it as your gateway to the serious world of illegal street racing.

Ladder Races start off pretty easy, but they ramp up quickly. It soon becomes a white-knuckle experience, where every minor mistake means you’ll have to try again. (Over… And over!) However, once you start proving yourself here, the rewards scale up dramatically as difficulty increases.

Daily Races refresh every four hours to provide new races, offering generous payouts.

Online Multiplayer Mode

Online Multiplayer lobbies are where you can compete with some of the best NSR racers from across the globe. You can jump into public rooms to find new rivals, or create private sessions for friends-only battles.

Online Duel offers quick head-to-head showdowns, but make sure your car’s properly tuned, or you’ll likely be embarrassed by someone with (much) better upgrades!

Global Leaderboards are your chance to prove yourself on the world stage, but you’re going to have some serious competition.

NSR Track List

Instead of traditional track-based racing, what’s rare about NSR (as a browser game) is that it provides an open-world street racing experience. Think of it as being similar to Drift Hunters MAX, but with street racing instead of being a drifting game!

If you like, you can simply cruise the streets, looking for races and rivals, to create authentic underground racing vibes.
