The moment Tokyo Xtreme Racer fans have been waiting for finally arrives.
Following an incredibly successful Early Access run, Genki has officially confirmed that TXR’s full release will arrive on September 25, bringing the Shuto Expressway racing reboot into its complete form.

This follows the hugely popular Early Access period, which began on January 23, during which the team has rolled out numerous updates, carefully prioritizing new features and fixes based on fan feedback.
Here’s the official tweet that confirms all the details:

Release Date & Pricing
Along with the confirmation, we get pricing and release date details:
- Release Date: September 25, 2025
- Price: $49.99 USD/6,600 JPY
- Platform: Steam (Unfortunately, still no Xbox or PlayStation console release date confirmation yet)
It’s great to see the reasonable pricing continue, especially when the industry’s new “norm” seems to be nearer $80.
However, there’s an even better deal for those who act quickly – the game remains free for players who bought the Early Access version, which you can still buy now.
This means if you purchase the game today, you get it for just $29.99 (Early Access pricing). You’ll automatically receive the full version upgrade on September 25 at no additional cost, essentially getting the full game for half the price.
New Features
We also get further confirmation of the exciting new features that’ll be arriving with the full release:
- Addition of new car models and car parts
- Addition of a new chapter and new rivals
- Game balancing and adjustments based on feedback from players
A Japanese source that appears to have access to the full version reveals that “25 additional brands from domestic parts manufacturers” will feature in the full release, according to Google Translate.
We’re hoping to see more parts from legendary aftermarket JDM brands such as RE-Amemiya, ChargeSpeed, and Veilside.
Here’s more of what you can expect from the final game, as previously confirmed by Genki during a Reddit AMA.
Delayed Features
Alongside all the exciting news, there are a couple of feature delays that fans should be aware of:
- Replay Feature
- Steam Record Ranking
The ‘Steam Record Ranking’ is likely referring to the online leaderboard system, which is being postponed due to “insufficient cheat prevention measures”. The team feels they’re not currently able to “provide a fair playing field for all players”.
They explain the decision enables them to “prioritize additional game volume such as additional story content,” and it seems they’re doing everything possible to stick to their September promises for the full release, even if it means delaying some initially planned features.
TXR’s Full Release announcement comes just days after The Crew’s third-party revival announcement. September is shaping up to be yet another epic month for racing game enthusiasts!
