Your Nurburgring Record
Table of Contents
Summary
Your Nurburgring Record lets you take on the most infamous circuit in motorsport and challenges you to throw down your ultimate (preferably clean) lap times.

There are no power-ups, shortcuts, or safety nets here. It’s just you, the unforgiving Green Hell, and the constant temptation to carry a little too much speed into a blind corner you haven’t learned yet.
You’ll (eventually) have the chance to get behind the wheel of over 60 cars (once you’ve proven your worth), featuring the likes of the Koenigsegg Jesko, Ferrari Daytona SP3, McLaren F1, and everything in between. You’ll earn them by getting faster, smoother, and more disciplined with every lap.

Shaving a few seconds off your best time feels like a genuinely huge achievement (Polytrack fans will know the feeling), and putting just one wheel on the grass can undo an entire (very long) lap’s worth of progress.
If you’ve spent your day going sideways in our drifting games and fancy something that tests a completely different set of skills, this is one of the most rewarding (and frustrating) challenges in our best browser games lineup.

Physics

These are what make this game so addictive. Braking distances and weight transfer matter, and carrying too much speed into a corner sends you flying into the barriers (but you won’t need to worry about the typical ‘Ring repair costs, thankfully!).
The handling is a little on the rigid side, where even a small mistake will leave the car flying out of control. But once you start to understand the limits, everything begins to click, and the corners that felt impossible start opening up and making sense.
If you’ve enjoyed spending time trying to shave milliseconds off your best times in Polytrack, you’ll love this one. The difference is that Polytrack’s tracks are over in seconds, while a single Nurburgring lap takes nearer eight minutes, meaning a lot more time for things to go wrong.
The rear-wheel-drive cars feel like they have traction control baked in (with no way to disable it, sadly), so this is purely a grip racing game. Your circuit instincts will serve you far better than your drifting ones here.
Graphics

The graphics are arguably some of the best you’ll see in any browser game, especially on High settings with the render distance cranked up. The car models are incredibly detailed, and the surroundings of the Nordschleife look fantastic. You’ll see the deep forests in the background, the real-world graffiti markings on the track surface, and the iconic corners that you’ll recognize from the Nurburgring 24 Hour (or more likely, viral YouTube crash compilations, amirite?).
Weather options let you choose between a bright summer’s day, a moody overcast sky, or a full sunset. We’d recommend starting with daylight or cloudy, as the sunset shadows can be a little distracting when you’re trying to read the road.
Alongside this, Speed Racing Pro 2 is worth a look if you want a similar selection of supercars but with a bigger selection of circuits, with time attack and braking-point precision that’ll feel familiar after lapping the Nurburgring.
For stunning car detail in a completely different setting, along with plenty of sideways action, UNBOUNDED has become one of the most popular drifting games thanks to its stunning neon-lit reflections bouncing off the paintwork as you’re handed the opportunity to slide through the wet city streets with your friends in the online multiplayer mode.

How to play Your Nurburgring Record
Initial setup
When you load the game, you’ll see the main menu with your starter car – the Honda Civic Type R.
Head to Settings in the top left before doing anything else, and set the graphics to High if your device can handle it, as it makes a noticeable difference. If things feel laggy, drop down to Medium or Low and reduce the render distance until it runs smoothly. A smooth frame rate matters more than pretty scenery when precision is this vital.
You can also toggle between button and mouse steering under ‘Turns’, and adjust the volume levels.

On the right, you’ll see your car’s stats: power, 0-100 km/h acceleration, max speed, and best lap time. The color picker below that lets you paint your car any color from a full palette, completely free.
Getting started
It’s not often we recommend choosing a front-wheel-drive Honda Civic as the ideal starter car at Drifted, yet here we are. It’s front-wheel drive, predictable, and forgiving enough to learn the track without constantly ending up in the barriers.

With your weapon of choice decided (you can totally ignore the Civic advice if you wish!), click ‘Start the Race’ and you’ll find yourself on the Nordschleife. Your tires are cold at the start, so take the first few corners carefully. Once they warm up, the grip improves noticeably.
You’ll likely soon realize this is nothing like your typical browser game. There’s no radar or track map, so you’re forced to learn the Nurburgring the hard way, and you’ll likely find yourself in the barriers before you know it.
In case you’re (somehow) not already aware, the Green Hell is packed with tight corners, massive elevation changes, camber shifts, and blind crests that’ll continue catching you out until you’ve memorized what’s coming. If this narrow, technical driving appeals, you’ll also want to check out Touge Drift & Racing, which captures the same spirit, but on winding Japanese mountain passes with grippy handling (and optional drifting) that demands similar braking discipline.
When the frustration builds up, Slow Roads offers endless chill driving across Britain’s scenic roads of the Peak District with zero pressure or lap times to worry about, making it perfect for decompressing before your next attempt.
If you have a hard crash, you can press R to reset your car, but be warned that the clock keeps ticking and your clean-lap bonus is gone. It often refreshes you at the same angle, too, burning even more time.

It’s worth mentioning that cutting across the grass triggers a time penalty, too, so don’t try to be clever with shortcuts!
Once you’re confident with the basics, the GR Supra is a great step up. Or the Mustang RTR, if you’re feeling brave, but it’s a bit of a weapon. You’ll soon start to feel the benefits of rear-wheel drive with a little power oversteer coming out of corners, but the handling still rewards patience over aggression.
Game modes
Your Nurburgring Record is a pure time-attack experience. There are no other game modes or opponents (besides the leaderboards). It’s just you against the clock.

However, besides grinding for better lap times, there’s also a car unlock system to work toward. Each of the 61 cars on offer has specific requirements. Some need a clean lap (no crashes), and others need you to break certain time barriers.
To unlock a decent chunk, you can simply take a calm scouting lap in the Civic without worrying about your time. If you just keep it clean with no crashes, you’ll unlock a batch of cars immediately.

Getting under eight minutes starts unlocking a generous amount of the remaining roster, and by the time you’ve achieved a clean sub-seven-minute lap (good luck with that, though!), you’ll unlock all the remaining vehicles (more details below) in one swoop.
If you’re craving more circuit variety, Super Star Car sends you on a world tour of 14 circuits based on real F1 tracks, with aggressive AI rivals who’ll fight you for every position. Or, for a similar “one mistake ends everything” feel with a completely different approach, Drive Mad will have you retrying physics-puzzle levels dozens of times before a perfect run makes it all worth it.

There are nine free cars to get you started, with the Honda Civic Type R and Toyota GR Supra being the standout picks for newcomers. The roster spans JDM legends and American muscle through to rare hypercars that most people will never get to see in real life.
If you’re a JDM fan eyeing the GT-R Nismo and Supra, you might find yourself wanting to take those sideways once you’ve unlocked them. Drift Hunters MAX has both in its 39-car garage, along with the most satisfying drift physics of any browser game, where catching a slide requires smooth inputs rather than mashing the throttle and hoping for the best (especially on the touge!)
Alternatively, if the unlock grind here feels too demanding (we get it), Madalin Stunt Cars 3 gives you instant access to more than 60 supercars from the moment you load the game, with online multiplayer lobbies and multiple open maps.
Customization

Paint is the only customization option, with a full color palette available for free. There’s no tuning or performance upgrades to save you, so your lap times come down entirely to driving skill.
If you want more tuning depth in a game that’ll play smoothly on just about any device, the classic Drift Hunters game teaches proper technique through forgiving physics and clear scoring feedback, with full tuning across boost, camber, ride height, and brake pressure upgrades to work towards.
Advanced tips & tricks
Brake earlier than you think you need to
If you think you’ve started braking early enough but failed to hit the optimal line, try braking a little earlier. The narrow track and harsh corners of the Nurburgring punish overconfidence harder than almost any other track, and the ABS kicking in when you’ve gone in too hot is the game’s way of telling you it’s already too late.
Try out the hood cam

The camera options are limited, but the hood cam gives you the clearest view of the road ahead and the best sense of speed. The close follow cam works too, but being up at the front can help you read the corners earlier and spot the sudden camber/elevation changes easier, which matters on a track with this many blind crests.
Try to look as far ahead as possible

The further ahead you’re looking, the more time you have to plan and brake accordingly. On a track this long and unpredictable, spotting a tight corner early can make a huge difference. After a couple of laps, try to build a mental picture of what’s coming next.
Only use the handbrake as an emergency tool
Don’t expect the handbrake to work as it does in driving games, where you can flick the back end out and floor it for a clean initiation. It works more like a real-world handbrake, and pulling it mid-corner will likely make things worse. Save it for absolute emergencies when you’ve gone in way too hot and need to scrub speed before the barriers, but try to keep the steering wheel straight as long as possible.
Try countersteering yourself out of trouble

It’s not full-blown drifting, but if the back end steps out, calmly lifting off the throttle until the car starts to slide, then countersteering and throttling out can often save the situation. If you’ve got the sideways bug, Drift King lets you join tandem sessions with friends in online lobbies across six tracks, where the precision you’ll need to think about is knocking on doors!
Remember that the lap ends on a tight corner
Don’t relax when you see the finish area approaching. The final section concludes after a tricky corner that catches people out right at the end. Plan accordingly, and stay focused until you’ve crossed the line.
Your Nurburgring Record FAQ
Can I play Your Nurburgring Record on mobile?
No, it’s only available on PCs, laptops, or Chromebooks. We have plenty of alternative mobile games on offer, though.
How do I unlock new cars in Your Nurburgring Record?
Complete laps within specific time limits, or finish a clean lap without crashing. A sub-eight-minute run opens up a solid portion of the garage, and a clean sub-seven-minute run will unlock everything.
What’s the best starter car?
The Honda Civic Type R. It’s front-wheel drive, lower-powered, with great handling, and ideal for learning the track before moving to the more powerful free options like the GR Supra or the Aston Martin DB11.
Does Your Nurburgring Record have a multiplayer mode?
No, it’s a solo time-attack experience with an in-game leaderboard.
What happens if I crash during the lap?
Press ‘R’ to reset your car, but be warned that it won’t always point you in the correct direction, the clock keeps running, and your clean-lap bonus will be gone. One crash won’t typically ruin your overall time, but if you want to unlock the cars requiring a clean lap, you’ll need to restart.
Why do I keep losing control on the corners?
You’re likely going in too fast. The cold tires at the start of each run reduce grip, so make sure you ease into the opening corners. Also, any contact with the grass will (unsurprisingly) result in a loss of traction, which often ends badly.
Is there any way to disable traction control?
No. The cars have built-in assists that can’t be turned off, unfortunately (we’d love to be able to throw them sideways, too!). The game focuses on clean racing rather than kicking the back end out.
