1) You can play online with your buddies, or other drifting fans

It was once unheard of that you could play free online browser games with your friends on separate devices. Games like Madalin Stunt Cars 3 changed that, and we’ve been treated to plenty more online multiplayer games since.

To head online in Drift King, all you need to do is hit ‘Play’ from the main menu, and then ‘Multiplayer’ to view the public lobbies. You can then choose your nickname and join a public room where you’ll find other players.

Alternatively, if you’d rather drift with your homies, type a room name in the text box and then click ‘Create Room’. Once they’ve joined, you can choose whether you want to slide on the touge, head to the racetracks, or hoon in the parking lot.

Once you’ve all polished your skills, you can start pulling off some sick tandems, and if you get enough of you together, you can even get some drift trains on the go. We’ve even had fun with getting a third (unbiased, of course) friend to act as a judge while two drivers battle it out!

2) Quickly earn cash to build and upgrade your dream garage

Once you start playing and learning the ropes, you’ll see your score going up. The good news here is that these points are cash, so whatever is displayed is what you’ve earned during the session. If only it were that easy in the real world!

When you begin improving your skills and throwing down some sick combos, you’ll soon unlock the 2x multiplier. Make sure you take advantage of advanced drifting techniques like countersteering and using manjis to keep the points and combos going up.

Since Drift King is super generous when it comes to rewarding points, even if you crash, you don’t need to worry about losing them. However, it’s worth remembering that as soon as you stop drifting, you’ll lose your combo. So, even if you do smash into the wall (don’t worry, it happens to all of us), make sure you get the wheels spinning and back into the sideways action as soon as you can.

Before you know it, you’ll be racking up the cash in your wallet to spend on the awesome cars and tuning upgrades, and within a few minutes (especially at max combo), you can unlock some of the best parts and some tuning upgrades in a matter of minutes. You’ll be glad to hear there’s no shortage of them, either…

3) There’s a huge selection of upgrades and tuning features

As well as being one of the most fun drifting games to play, the tuning and upgrade possibilities in Drift King are also up there with the best. Not only that, but they’re super affordable, too.

Here’s what’s on offer:

Upgrades

These improve your car’s performance, and each one has four upgrade levels before you get the maximum performance benefits. You’ll need to upgrade the parts on each vehicle in your garage individually.

Here’s what can be upgraded:

• Engine
• Turbo
• Gearbox
• Handling
• Weight

Tuning

This lets you tweak the suspension, allowing you to adjust the front/rear ride height and camber drastically. You can also change the brake balance and pressure if the default settings aren’t suited.

A word of warning – while opting for the ultimate slammed stance for your drift car might look awesome, it’s likely to scrape like hell when you’re sliding on the bumpy touge roads. While sparks flying out from under the car look cool, and aren’t a problem for F1 cars, it’s certainly not ideal for optimal drifting!

Wheels

Even when you purchase the best cars in the game, you’ll get the horrible stock wheels to start with, so you’ll definitely want to head to this section pronto. The good news is that you’re gonna be spoilt for choice here, as there’s a crazy 26 different sets of wheels to choose from.

Paint

As well as having the choice of just about every body color imaginable in the palette, you also get the same color choice for the wheels.

You can even choose to paint the standard ‘steels’, if that’s your thing. We won’t judge – promise(!)

4) The graphics are awesome, and the physics are on point

Most players are pleasantly surprised by the detailed graphics and realistic physics. Right now, Drift Hunters MAX is about the only free online browser drifting game that offers a better package in these regards.

One small downside for the perfectionist among us is that the wheels often face straight ahead, rather than countersteering, even when you’re pulling off the sickest backward entries.

Each car drives and handles noticeably differently, so it’s well worth grinding away to unlock all of them and see which are your favorites. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can unlock them all once you’re confident with building combos.

While it might not be at the same level as games like Forza Horizon 5 or Assetto Corsa, for a free browser drifting game that you can play anywhere on just about any device without even needing to install anything, Drift King is super impressive.

5) The damage physics make it hard to hide when you run out of talent

If you’re like us and love playing browser drifting games, you’ll know that even the best games out there don’t offer damage. You can drive head-on into a wall at 150 mph, and your ride won’t even have a scratch.

Thankfully, that’s not the case in Drift King. When you misjudge a corner and ram your car into the barriers, you’ll soon begin picking up war wounds.

While the damage won’t total your ride like Beam Drive Car Crash Test Simulator, there will still be plenty of twisted metal. This can look hilarious during tandems and trains, and proves your team skills might need a bit more refinement!

6) It runs perfectly on any device, including mobiles

Not only does Drift King run smoothly on PCs, laptops, and Chromebooks, but you can also enjoy it on the go with your mobile devices. Whether you’re playing on an Android or Apple iOS phone, or even a tablet, you still get the full experience, with absolutely no limitations.

The only downside is that, unlike Drift Hunters MAX, you won’t be able to share your save games across devices, so you’ll need to start a fresh game on each device. However, you can still pick up from where you left off each time, as the game save will be stored in your browser cache.
