Summary

Hit up a Red Bull Car Park Drift-style parking lot to dial in your skills, then head to the track and throw it sideways as huge flames shoot out of your aftermarket exhausts. You’ve got Dubai’s skyline as your backdrop, so you might as well put on a show!

Between runs, you’ll put your earnings towards recognizable real-world engine swaps (2JZ, anyone?), a selection of aftermarket tuning parts, refining your car’s stance, or choosing from over 200 paint jobs.

The big open drifting areas let you practice at your own pace (and you’ll need it, as it takes a while to get the hang of it), while checkpoint races add some (amusing) competition against AI opponents.

While the game modes aren’t the most exciting, it’s awesome for hooning, improving your weight transfer skills, and experimenting with different engine swaps and tuning setups.

Physics

Understanding weight transfer is gonna matter much more here than you’ll initially anticipate. As you attempt to learn the ropes, the cars often suddenly grip up the rears mid-slide and whip the front-end around, giving you a (probably unwelcome) sharp introduction to snap oversteer.

I won’t lie, the physics take some getting used to, especially for a browser drifter. There’s plenty of steering angle when you want to attempt ambitious entries, and once you understand how the car settles, holding a huge slide feels properly satisfying. But definitely expect a few accidental trips into the walls along the way.

If you’re finding them a little too frustrating, Drift Hunters Max is the perfect alternative, and way easier to read from the start. Alongside the huge roster, the dedicated drift modes, including traffic and judged clipping point runs, and detailed tuning also give you room to keep progressing once you’re settled in.

Graphics

Realistic, detailed cars, floodlights, and Dubai’s city skyline make the nighttime parking lot setting a highlight. The huge exhaust flames look especially good against the darkness, with plenty of pops and bangs adding to the show. Subtlety clearly wasn’t on the build sheet (in true Arab drift style!).

The nighttime vibe reminds me of UNBOUNDED, and it holds its own on looks. However, UNBOUNDED takes the modified-car appeal much further with deeper performance and visual tuning, along with online multiplayer drifting lobbies to show off your build.

Cockpit view is among the best we’ve seen in a browser game, featuring visible hands, nav screens, and a working speedometer and rev counter. You’ll wanna start with the exterior view initially, though, so you can watch the whole car. Then, switch to inside the cabin once you understand what the rear’s doing.

How to Play Unreal Drift Dubai

Initial Setup

You start with a Toyota Camry that’s had an SR20DET engine swap (as you do), and the first Daily Bonus that provides a free 100 CR, climbing on each daily return.

If you wanna head straight into the action, click the steering-wheel icon on the middle-right of the main menu, then choose Parking for your first session.

If you’d rather take a look at the other options, the flashing up arrow at the bottom of the main menu opens the garage, where the BRIDE seat doubles as another play button. The top-left wrench icon controls volume, and the suspension icon lets you tweak your setup.

Getting Started

The gearbox shifts semi-automatically, so you can concentrate on steering and throttle before experimenting with the manual overrides if you find the auto shifter isn’t doing a good enough job. Give yourself some space (and time) to get a feel for the car instead of aiming straight for the barrels, walls, and various other obstacles.

Drifting builds your score and combo multiplier. Crashing doesn’t cancel or penalize the combo, and there’s no vehicle damage. You’re free to smash into everything without worrying about every impact undoing your progress.

If you’d rather have a more challenging take on this, try Burnout Drift 2: Hilltop. Its mountain touge-style roads add traffic and weather to similar throttle-sensitive handling (which is a little more predictable than this one), but a crash will immediately wipe your unbanked score.

Game Modes

Parking and Track offer endless drifting, while Racing adds a separate (and uhh… unique) checkpoint-based race.

Parking

The huge open lot gives you plenty of room to learn, with heavy oil barrels and scattered obstacles to drift around (and crash into) as you improve.

Along with the pops and bangs, it has a Red Bull Car Park Drift feel, making it closer to gymkhana than most drifting games. If you’ve enjoyed the car-show energy, Force Drift Racing: Aussie Burnout brings Summernats-style burnouts, crowds, and near-endless smoke. You also get super in-depth tuning and upgrades that go way beyond this game (which is already pretty damn good).

Track

In this one, you’re on a challenging, rough track with endless walls, elevation changes, and corners that encourage massive entries. If the tricky handling isn’t already catching you out, the bumps will add another welcome challenge into the mix!

There’s no race to win here. It’s all about hooning and showing off your skills, which can be put to good use in the final mode…

Racing

In true browser drifter style, this one takes you to a shipping port. You choose a custom race (with up to 15 laps and 13 bots), then follow the (sometimes unobvious) checkpoints around the circuit.

The checkpoint arches are solid, as are the bollards and crates, and getting too clever with any of them will bring your stylish entry (and possible win) to an abrupt stop.

Your rivals drive blocky, low-poly cars that look weird beside your super fresh build. They also have seemingly limitless grip, whipping around tight corners while you’re still attempting to tame the rear end. Before you know it, they’ll often take a bizarre line into the wall, or crash into you (don’t say we didn’t warn you!).

While it’s a bit odd and feels super unfinished, trying to beat them with your tail-happy drift car is amusingly challenging. Tandems are another matter, though, and it rarely ends well. For that, games like Drift Hunters Pro make way more sense for door-to-door drifting. You get public and private multiplayer rooms that let you bash doors with your friends in city, dockyard, and touge locations, along with a huge selection of JDM cars.

There’s a great mix of Japanese, European, and American rides to choose from. To browse the roster, open the garage and click “Car” on the roof.

Tuning, Upgrades & Customization

Inside the interactive garage, drag your mouse around to see the part labels, then click the dot beneath the one(s) you want. Heads up that positioning can be fussy, and the menus occasionally lag.

Engine swaps

Any engine can be fitted into your weapon of choice at the click of a button. Wanna put a 13B rotary into a Mustang GT? Go ahead. (Just don’t tell the purists!)

Here are the familiar engines you get to choose from

• S50 – 5,000 CR, 250 hp

• 2JZ-GTE – 8,000 CR, 280 hp
• RB26DETT – 9,000 CR, 285 hp
• 13B rotary – 12,000 CR, 310 hp
• VQ35DET – 13,000 CR, 320 hp
• LS3 V8 – 15,000 CR, 325 hp
• Tipo F140 – 20,000 CR, 450 hp

The Tipo F140 is the most powerful option, and I found it made the car drift more freely and predictably. Check the figures before buying, though. The 4A-GE “upgrade”, for example, makes less power than the free SR20DET.

Engine outputs are fixed, and you can’t upgrade them (unfortunately). Thankfully, other browser-based options like Drift King give you engine, turbo, and gearbox upgrade options, then let you take the finished build into public or private multiplayer lobbies.

Wheels, camber & ride height

The main menu’s bottom-left (wheel/suspension icon) settings handle wheel size and alignment. Move the view around your car while making adjustments to check the fitment from different angles.

• Wheel size uses a continuous slider, rather than fixed inch increments.
• Camber runs from zero to several negative degrees (no positive) and changes all four wheels.
• Drop raises or lowers the ride height so you can tuck your chosen wheels under the fenders cleanly.

You can go full Onikyan, or “demon camber” (a look covered in our stanced cars guide), or opt for a more sensible fitment and ride height. Note that excessive rear negative camber reduces traction, making the already lively cars even harder to manage.

Revisit the settings after buying the Mustang. It’s a big ol’ beast, and you’ll wish the size slider went even further!

Body parts, paint & exhausts

Garage options cover front and rear aftermarket bumpers (with weird external bash bar options), side skirts, wheels, spoilers, and exhausts.

Parts vary by car. The Mustang gets a Rocket Bunny front-bumper option (but no skirts or rear?), while you can’t tweak the already-kitted GT-R. You can still adjust its wheels and spoiler, though.

Wheel choices include plenty of recognizable deep-dish JDM designs. Exhausts range from burnt tips to near-bosozoku pipes and enormous cannons, so there’s plenty of scope to make your build look delightfully outrageous.

The paint cans on the floor let you choose from 201 color/wrap options, with regular, monochrome, and more unusual looks to explore. You don’t get a color slider, so finding your favorite involves clicking through the choices (which takes a while!).

Credits & Cheat Codes

For every 5,000 points earned driving, you get 100 CR to spend in the garage (yeah, not ideal…). Budget for the engine and parts as well as the car, because an expensive combination takes a while to earn. There’s also a daily reward that’ll help over time.

Optionally, if you don’t wanna wait, you can use “Get Cheat Code” on the main menu. Watch 15 short ads (literally a few seconds) to receive a code that’ll instantly gift you 1,000,000 CR, then enter it through the command-style icon in the bottom-right corner.

Fancy trying a similar game that offers more without needing to cheat? Advanced Tips & Tricks

Let the rear settle before getting back on the throttle

The physics certainly take some getting used to, and understanding countersteering and weight transfer is more important in this game than just about any other browser drifter.

The approach that worked best for me was to let the rear step out under power (with a slight bit of angle at first), ease off to feel/watch the rear of the car rotate, then reapply the throttle once settled. Over time, try getting more aggressive to find your limits (and beyond).

Keep an eye on the front wheels and the rear end so you can connect your inputs to the car’s movement, and try not to panic with the steering (easier said than done!).

Learn to control the slides before using the handbrake

Space kicks the rear out quickly, and it can quickly snap and bring the back end out much more than you intended.

Start by getting comfortable with steering, throttle, and left-foot braking. Once you can settle the car, add (very) brief handbrake inputs along with a small amount of steering lock when you want a sharper initiation, while giving yourself plenty of room.
