EVENT: Cody’s D1NZ 2013 Round Two
It’s been far too long since I last got out amongst some drifting, over half a year in fact. Tuning in to online coverage of overseas events has been great but there’s nothing quite like attending an event yourself and taking in the atmosphere on offer. That’s why I was looking forward to Round 2 of the Cody’s D1NZ Championship held in Whangarei on a new custom built track, with many rebuilt and redesigned cars for the 2012/2013 season. -

EVENT: KD European Drift Lousada 2012 Part II
After attending the annual Lousada drift event for the past few years you think I'd be prepared for the mental and physical onslaught that is shooting it. Don't get me wrong, I love drifting but after 18 hours solid of it, followed by four to five hours sleep I was less than 'chipper' when the alarm sounded for day two of the event. Come 9:00am I was back at the track, batteries full, memory cards empty, enthusiasm slightly less than brimming....but at least I had coffee. -

EVENT: Crazy Karpacz Touge, Poland
or those who don’t know, Touge is the Japanese word for a winding mountain road. That is where the drifting started. It is currently the fastest growing motorsport and certainly every fan of drifting would love to see a competition on winding mountain roads. Surely this is the same thing that inspired organizers of the Polish Drifting Championship (DMP) last year, who decided to do a round in Karpacz, the small town located in the Polish mountains… -

I have to admit, going to Hungary I’ve had split feelings - on one hand we had an opportunity to see how our (EEDC) drivers look going against “Drift AllStars” , probably the best drivers in Europe, a Hungarian drift culture which always had a lot of sexual content within it, and a worrisome night stage on a track which from videos looked slow and narrow… I was not sure what to expect. -

VIDEO: GATEBIL – The Game Changer
Gatebil, as ever, is the go-to event of the year. 50 000 car-crazed people from all over the world join together to make the biggest and baddest car event on this side of the hemisphere. This year, was absolutely no different. New Zealand, England, Germany, Russia, Italy, Finland, USA, just some of the countries represented out on the track that weekend. Alongside the 'regulars' from Norway and Sweden. What does all that mean? Absolute and utter pandemonium out on the track... And off track. -
EVENT: Formula Drift 2012: Throwdown, Day One
It's incredible how large the sport has grown in the past coupe years, and how the cars have changed to quickly. ProAm drivers were moved to their own separate area as the main pit area was filled to the brim with all the Pro drivers. Every year there have been an increase in the amount of drivers competing for that top 32 spot, and its great to see so many new faces and cars out to battle. -

A few weeks back there was a small arrangement at a local track where drivers could drive for free, and take passanger rides to raise money for a good cause. It was a great day, beautiful weather, lots of people and most importantly, it looked like the drivers and passangers had a lot of fun! -

FIINALLYY!! EEDC 2012 has started! The weather forecast was not kind at all from the beginning of the week, so I got myself some long rubber boots and a raincoat, but nobody warned me it was going to be soooo cold; temperatures averaged around 7 degrees C (low 5s and high 9s). What a first summer weekend we had! -
